Happy New Year's Eve

Happy New Year's Eve everyone!  I hope you got everyone done in 2012 that you wanted to, if not, you have today to get it done.  Here's a great card today using a beautiful stamp from artist Myka Jelina of Queen Kat Stamps  She's all dressed up and has a drink for the new year.  Isn't she awesome?  I love all the stamps that come from this artist.
I added a simple Love You sentiment to the card (also from Queen Kat) and some bling so I can give this sweet card to my sweetie.  Who else would I want to celebrate with on New Year's eve?  I wish everyone a great and prosperous 2013!  Let's all pull out some stamps and have fun next year. I know I can't wait.

Hugs, Holley

Wonderland

Here's an awesome stamp that makes me think of Alice in Wonderland.  She's actually a wood mounted stamp, which is unusual for me to purchase nowadays.  I often get unmounted or EZ mounted stamps.  But I saw this one and had to get her.  The clock on her waist....just makes me think of time ticking down which is perfect for the new year.  She's called "Halloween Magic" by Stampendous.
Hope you are all looking forward to the New Year, I know I am.  Be sure to stay tuned for Feb!  There will be the Annual Celebration.  For those of you who haven't been to my blog before, we have a HUGE celebration in Feb to celebrate a wonderful brain surgery that I had back in 2010.  I had 2 successful brain surgeries and this Feb I will hit THREE years with no seizures.  Last time I was at the doctor I asked the nurse how many people make it to three years.  She said, about half.  WOW.  What a blessing.  Also, by the end of Feb, I expect to be almost completely off my first medication.  WOW.  That's a huge deal.  Post brain surgery, you don't even start medication reduction until your one year point.  After that, your first medication reduction is like 1 pill of 1 mediction.  Which is so small, when you take 5 meds a day.  However, it's critical that you do it like this because your body is SO accustomed to the medications.  Always go at the doctor's recommended pace.   Now, Just amazing.

So despite the other medical issues that I may talk about, this side of my medical life is truly blessed and taking less medications is wonderful!!  I know all these meds do effect the body's white blood cell count!  I have read that huge document on "possible side effects", not the 1 sheet the pharmacist hands you, the on-line 5-10 page document about the medication.  Hugs you guys!!  I am ready for 2013 and praying for the best.

Cheers, Holley

Dream Time

Here's a great Sweet Pea stamp from artist Marlon Teunissen called Dream Time (Plate #231).  This stamp is just stunning.  I colored all the clockwork in cool greys.  The artist's image is done in color, so be sure and check it out on the Sweet Pea site to see her coloring.
The bottom of the card was trimmed and a fun scallop layer was added to the top.  The inside of the card is a wonderful brown color.  I then added a vellum saying "I can resist everything except temptation. Oscar Wilde"  That sentiment just looks perfect with that lady.

Sweet Pea stamps is having a huge sale on their rubber stamps right now, almost everything (except a few of the newest pre-order images) are HALF OFF!!  wow, here's a link to the Store:  Click here.

When Pigs Fly!

Here's an adorable new image from Queen Kat artist Sandra Caldwell called Three Pig Angels.  I added a saying at the bottom "with God all things are possible."  Let me tell you my thought behind this saying.  As soon as I saw this stamp, it reminded me of that humerous saying that you often hear, "....Not until PIGS FLY!"  Shortly after such a thing is said, you often see in the commercial, movie, tv show...a flying pig overhead.  Well, when I saw these little angels, that saying just cracked me up.  Here's a card with some flying pigs on it!
So, "With God all things are possible" so next time you say, "....when pigs fly!"  you best look up to the sky.  Or, better yet, buy this stamp and make some cards and they next time someone says that to you, give them a card like this to remind them, you don't know, pigs just might have wings.  Anything is possible!!

Project Materials:  Cardstock (Bazzill, Neenah, DCWV);  Image (Queen Kat); Ink (Memento, Colorbox Chalk);  Saying (Colorbox);  Cardstock Stickers (Doodlebug);  Die Cut (Spellbinders Nestabilities);  Color (Copic Markers);  Adhesives (pop dots, glue all);

Little Gift Bag

Here's a little gift bag/box that I constructed for my friend Apriell.  I put a fun gift image of Fluffles on it.  Always love that kitty.  Put a couple of delicious snacks in there for her and gave it to her the last time we were together just prior to Christmas.  In case you wanna know what my fav snacks are--go by some super special market and I got her some Chocolate Dipped Kettle Corn nuggets, some Marbled Sensations Chocolate drops, and my fall back (but personal favorite) is Marich Carmels.
 Here's a closer view of the Fluffles image:

That cat is one of my all time favorites!  Though it was for a Christmas gift, I think this package is good for anytime. I could have colored it though to make a lot more Christmas-y.

Project Materials:  Cardstock (Glossy, Bazzill, Neenah);  Stamp (Stampendous Fluffles);  Ink (Memento);  Color (Copic Markers); Bling (Recollections); Lace (Recollections);  Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue Dots, Ribbon Glue, Glue All);

Merry Christmas

Here's a stunning image from Sweet Pea artist Nikki Burnette called Elena (Plate #73).  This stamp is just stunning.  It's a great image for making a heart warming Christmas card for the one you hold close.  It has incredible detail, but to highlight the sexy lady on the card, I colored in the background images using five different shades of warm grey copic markers.
Here's a close up of the colored image.  I colored the girl in warm colors to go with the warm greys in te background.  Isn't she beautiful? I just love those holly socks.  I would so wear those!

I added one of the vertical sentiment from the Sweet Pea vertical sentiments plate, Holiday Veritcals (Plate #13).  Then I added some gorgeous bling to finish off the card.  This paper is also some of the beautiful Bazzill embossed paper that already has a layer of shimmery decor on it (that's the dark red coloration in the background).  What a perfect Oooo La La card for the Hubby.

Squigglefly Challenge

Happy Monday everyone!  You know what that means....yep, it's time for this week's Squigglefly Challenge!  This week's theme is to create a winter wonderland.  It doesn't matter if your image is winter theme or not, as long as your card has some winter theme embellishment on it.  I think my card is a good example of a non-winter image that I used for a sweet winter card.  She's called Big Sister Babs by artist Diane Carubia.  She's not a winter specific stamp, but I made her winter-y for this card and challenge.
Drop by the Squigglefly Challenge Blog and see what all of the Holley Hobbyists created to share with you.  You can use any image from the freebies to even play along and drop by the store to get an image and join in. The winner this week will get a free image from Squigglefly.

Don't forget to leave a comment today, we're still have blog candy here and new winner's are picked up until Dec 12th.

Here's a fun card I did using a company called Heartfelt Creations.  This company makes dies that match stamps.  For example, many of you are familiar with spellbinders, this company created rubber stamps that are the exact same size as the cutters.  So you can stamp the image and cut it out.  They also make their own like of die cutters.  It's a bit hard to tell on this card because it's flat, but there are layers of flowers here.
Three different flowers on this card have layering where the images were stamped and colored and cutout.  It's wonderful for making dimensional type images.  I also have been on a design team where these cutters and stamps were sold.  That store is Scrapalicious.  Unfortunately Scrapalious is shutting down, but because they are, their cutters and stamps are WAY discounted, so their product is on sale.  It's 30% extra off the prices marked.  Just email the store's owner (Cindy--scrapalicioususa@yahoo.com) with a list of what you want.  May take her a day or so to get back with you, but she's super sweet and always gives a great deal.

Don't forget to leave a comment today to be eligible for blog candy!  new winners announced soon!

Cheers, Holley

Oopsie!

Here's a darling Tilda who's made a little mess, but I guess if you are going to learn to be a cook at her age, you could grow up and be a great Chef one day!  Just got to keep scrambling those eggs up.  This adorable stamp I got over at Scrapalicious.  She is selling out her store and the Magnolia stamps are 30% off the discounted price!  Yum. I couldn't resist this cutie.  The gorgeous papers on this card are all from Paper Temptress.
The card base is a stunning shimmery Mica cardstock called Amethyst, it glimmers, so I added some black paper on top that also has an amazing golden sparkle to it.  The Black layer is called Incandescent Nero.  The image has been stamped on Neenah Solar White and the corners were die cut from the same cardstock.  The light blue cardstock used for layering is called Pop Tones Berrylicious.  It may look darker, but I used some colorbox chalk ink to rub on the edges with ink on both the Pop Tones cardstock, the Neenah Cardstock and the corner diecuts.

Coloring on the cute image is done in Copic Markers and the adorable diecuts are from Cheery Lynn.  I had to add a cute flat back button that says Chef to top the card off.  I wish you all could see it in the light, these cards shimmer so much thanks to the mica and glittery of them!

Cheers, Holley

Amythyst

Here's a stunning image from Sweet Pea artist Joanne Schempp's called Amythyst (Plate #206).   Be sure you click the link and check out this stamp on the Sweet Pea website because when you see the artist's coloring it's just so different and amazing.  It's so neat to see what a stamp can look like when done in different color families.

Here's a close up of my coloring of this image, I am using a warm color group, with reds as my primary color.  I used a wonderful background paper from Basic Grey to bring out all the colors and added small amounts of bling everywhere.  The image size is approx 2.75" x 3.5"

Gorjuss Girl

Always time for a Gorjuss Girl Stamp. I just love this artist's work, as I guess you could clearly tell given my blog design.  This artist is just amazing.    Here's one of her stamps and I added a wonderful uplifting sentiment for the day "Learn from yesterday, Live for Today, Hope for Tomorrow."
I hope this makes everyone smile today.  I can remember when I had such long long brown hair.  Right before my brain surgeries, I had just over 2 foot (yep, TWO FEET WORTH) of hair cut off so they would donate it to Locks of Love and it could be used for wigs.  That put my hair super short before surgery.  Of course doctors will tell you that you don't "have" to cut your hair, but I will also just laugh and say they shaved a huge line straight down center of my head like a reverse mohawk (and several other places).  Hair was about the last thing that mattered at the time to me.  For me, it was just amazing getting my BRAIN fixed and it if some other person could get hair, then that's great.  But to give the hair, I had to go before my surgery and get it cut at a salon.

Project Materials:  Cardstock (Bazzill, Neenah); Printed Paper (unsure);  Image (Gorjuss Girls;  Saying--I think--Hero arts);  Ink (Memento, Colorbox Chalk); Flowers (Prima); Brads (Basic Grey); Die cuts (Spellbinders Nestabilities);  Color (Copic Markers); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue All, Glue Dots);

Take it Easy

Here's an amazing stamp from Crafter's Companion.  This stamp is one of the Toreads, Legendary Tiny Nymphs.  This little Toread is named Comge.  She comes with multiple sayings, the "Take it Easy" that is shown as well as "Relax" and "Love."  Isn't she darling?  I added some great multi-layered handsewn ribbon that I got last year when I was in Istanbul.  I also used multiple layers of wonderful diecuts to set the image apart.

CC Products used here:
Toreads Stamp Set Comge
mounting block
Memento Ink Tuxedo Black
Spectrum Noir Markers
Adhesive Foam Squares

Additional Supplies:  Diecutters (Spellbinders, Lifestyles, Memory Box);

Where's Your Adventure?

I am sure you can tell this lady is ready for some adventure.  She's called Shady Sassy from Sassy Studio Designs.  I am guessing you can tell she was inspired by the recent love for 50 Shades of Grey, which I must confess that I haven't actually read.  I might however dress up like this to get my hubby to find some adventure. Hmmm.....
Are you signing up for blog candy?  All you need to do is just leave a comment!  I am picking out random comments to choose 12 winners from Nov 12th to Dec 12th.  Dec 12th will make the time at which I will return to my cancer doc to be retested.  Hoping of course to see better results, though I know my chances are of course slim.  Speaking of slim, I am also slimming down as I get ready for it.  Dropping 20 pounds to be exact.  Decided I would do that back in Oct 12 when I got the bad test results.  So far, only about 11 pounds down.  So, just over halfway there!  Better get my walking on. Can you say 10-15 miles a day?
