Here's an adorable bunny that I just love. Saw this stamp in a magazine a long time ago and just fell in love with him. I couldn't believe it one day when I found this stamp for sale at a local store. Normally such stamps (private companies) don't just turn up in large chain type stores. Was a nice addition to my stamp collection.

If you do this, you need to leave your name/email or blog so I can contact you if you win! Current places to sign up are: Friday's posting (Winner announed tomorrow)...scroll down and find Ayana's Art and leave her a sweet compliment of her artwork....May 13th blog post has people selected every day or so!!

It's a May blog hop day!

Well today is a special day! I am in the midst of Scrapbook Place's May Blog hop and a display project for the Paper Temptress! Here's some beautiful papers from the Paper Temptress that I got to create this wonderful table display. This project is using some Eclipse Black 100 as its base; some stunning Ruche called Sky blue crepe; a sliver of silver glossy paper and a wonderful sheet of Crystal Clear.
First you use hill&valley folding to create the creases in your base paper. Size for the base on the shown image is 6"x9". Here's a great side view of the project to show you how all the pieces have been assembled together.
This project was done using a pattern created by Crafter's Companion and their Ultimate Tool. I used some Stazon ink in white to add floral stamping onto the clear sheet. This paper takes images well and even if you are using stazon ink, if you wipe it off quickly, you can repeat your stamp image if there is a smudge the first time. It's wonderful!! Be sure to let the ink dry for a short period of time before touching it.

Once stamped, I used some clear dots to adhere to clear sheet to my black cardstock. Here's an image of the black cardstock with everything attached to it before I add the clear sheet:
Once I added the clear sheet (which is sized at 6" x 11.5") I wanted to cover the glue dots that I used to adhere it to my card. To do this I used some Sky blue crepe paper. Seems like a tiny piece of paper to need, but I keep ALL scraps from every project. When a project like this comes along, I go through all my scraps by length and found this wonderful ruche paper which fit perfectly! So save all your paper scraps for projects just like this!! I needed a 1.5" size of Ruche and an even tinier sliver of silver! (Sliver of silver...now say that 5 times fast!) Here's a much better image that shows the Sky Blue crepe paper:

This image also shows how wonderfully the clear paper takes the white stazon ink. Finally, here's an image of one of the embellishment butterflies

Hope this project has inspired you today! It sure makes me love paper.

Here's a great design from Queen Kat. She's called "The Cook" and she has something that's been made with LOVE....mmmmm. Want some cake? I know looking at it makes me want some. For my DHs bday I got him some designer cupcakes from a local bakery--Turtle, Boston Creme, Red Velvet, and Tres Leches...tough choice as they also had several others that looked so good--Italian Creme, Nutella, German Chocolate,....mmmmm. If there was more than 2 of us, I would have gotten a huge box!

Ayana's Art

Was such a wonderful weekend as I went to my hometown San Antonio. Got to see my brother and his Girlfriend as she (Amanda) just graduated from college!! WOOHOO!! Then I stopped by to see my old neighbors and wonderful friends, the Pictums. Amazing as I can remember Sterling when he was 3 years old. This trip, he showed me his senior ring that he just got. He's graduating high school next year. How time flies!

Finally I had the most wonderful dinner with family! John and I picked up my cousin Sylvia and her boyfriend Will, then we met my cousin Cherry, Chamichael and their daughter Ayana and my cousin Desi at a great restaraunt for an early celebration for Cherry's Bday. Such a delight. When I got there little Ayana presented me and John with these wonderful cards that she made:

Please leave Ayana a comment!

Squigglefly Challenge: Paper Piecing

Here's a great image from Squigglefly called Mia and Bosko. I just love this adorable little girl and her cute cat. The challenge on their blog this week is to do a paper piecing project. Paper piecing is when you stamp on various papers and piece those papers together to create your image. For Digi-stamps, I created a template on a plain sheet of paper by printing out my image multiple times, then I gently glued down some colored and printed papers to that sheet over those images (so I know that my printer would print the image exactly where I wanted it to. Then I had my image printed in multiple colors that I could use to "piece" my final project together. To see this adorable stamp in the Squigglefly store, CLICK HERE

Broken Angel

Here's a stunning stamp called Broken Angel by artist Merdith Dillman (Plate #107). I just love the beauty of this stamp. I wanted to give this stamp very rich coloring so I chose bright blues and dark yellows. I then matched those colors with cardstocks to create the card. The beautiful border surrounding the image is done with large size punches from Martha Stewart. I lined the center with shimmery silver paper and then added my Copic colored image along with my saying for the card. The saying comes from another Merdith Dillman sheet Plate #98.

SWALK Stepper Card

I recently received some great items from Crafter's Companion-two new boards for my Ultimate tool, a Boxer and Enveloboxer creator boards and a great video called "Advanced Construction Techniques." Here's a quick and easy project I made using these tools with the wonderful instructions, straight from the video. They call this card a "stepper card" here is what the card will look like when the recipient opens it and removes it from the envelope. When it opens up, it's a fold out card that will look like this: This card uses an adorable stamp set from SWALK called Best Friends. I colored the image using copic markers and cut it out to adhere it onto the card. The card directions are given in the video. The paper I used for the card base comes from a beautiful Fairyopolis paper set. I used a large punch to create the background with a grey metallic paper to look like an elegant fence. I added a few purple flowers on the green grass as cute accents.

If you peek inside the card, you will see the message for the recipient:

Creepie Cutie For You

Here's a great stamp from the Creepie Cutie line of Queen Kat stamps. This sweetie is called Stitched Heart. I added a fun saying from another stamp set called Cook Girl. Something this time made me want to use a seemingly odd combo of olive and purple. These are both colors that I am sure have all noticed that I don't often use (and certainly not together). I do like the Creepie Cuties though and I think she looks delightful in this color combo.

Made with Love

Here's one of the newest stamps from Queen Kat Stamps. This stamp is called Cook Girl and she's by Brenda S. Isn't she adorable? Who wouldn't want a cake? This cute stamp comes with 2 sayings the "Made with Love" that I use here and one that says "For You". This card makes me think of my DH, who is about to celebrate his birthday tomorrow. Should I bake him a cake? I know all of you are thinking, Yes, of course....but while I can do a decent cake myself, I think I will treat him to a specialty cake from a great place I know in town. I have a treat already in mind. I think that will knock his socks off :)Project Materials: Cardstock (AC, DCWV Metallic, Neenah); Rubber Stamps (Queen Kat Stamps); Ink (Memento, Stazon); Punches (Martha Stewart); Corner Punch (Creative Memories); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue All); Color (Copic Markers);

Lolipop Labs Little Cutie

This card uses a wonderful girl from a stamp called Little Cuties of Lolipop Labs . This stamp comes with three adorable girls on it, but my card today uses only the girl in the center. I stamped her in Memento Black ink onto white paper and cut her out using Spellbinders Nestabilities. I colored the image with Copic Markers. I brushed the edges of the top layer using Colorbox Chalk ink in black. I cut out a larger size of matte silver metallic paper with the next size of the Nestabilities so I could mount the Little Cutie image using pop dots. The card was covered with Making Memories black and white patterened paper and layered with some gorgeous white fringe. I then adhered the Little Cutie image on top of the card. Sweet and simple. This card is so cute and she's holding her arms out for a hug! Don't you just wanna hug her back?

Butterfly card using Paint Fushion

Here's a wonderful card I made with a beautiful sets of products that are about to be released by Crafter's Companion. These products are set up with a great DVD featuring famous artist Sheena Douglass. She is very well know for her fabulous painting techniques. Now, they have combined her techniques with RUBBER STAMPS! There's wonderful stamps, practice sheets (that are laminated so you can use them over and over) and a DVD to teach you her techniques to paint.I will say that I have NO experience painting. Hopefully that gives you an idea of how great the kit is, since I was able to sit down, watch the video, and make this card. I will honestly say this is the FIRST one I did. I had a ton of fun by first making the crackle backgrounds, but as for the painting of the butterfly and leaves, I did the painting on the practice laminated sheets and then straight onto this crackle background shown here.

The painted butterfly and the stamped word "Butterfly" come from the Butterfly set. The leaves shown here come from the Rosebud Set. The colors of paint that I used on the image here are Primary Red, Rose, New Grass and White. For the crackle background I used an ordinary piece of matt board and paint colors Raspberry and Butternut. After the image completely dried, I used a very old nail file to roughen the edges of the entire painted image including rubbing it gently across some of the painted area. Note the bottom of the leaves, how you can see the stamped image of the veins very faintly.

So, this has been my start into the realm that mixes painting and stamping together. Check out all the new Sheena Douglass products and join me in the fun!
